Dave will make you laugh: March 2012

Your usual routine: you go to the show, you pay $40, you sit in a dark room and watch a stranger. Sometimes makes you laugh, and sometimes doesn't. If the comedy is good, it makes you feel good. You tell your friends. Maybe the comedian eats, maybe he pays his bills, maybe he gets a tv show and a wife and kids. Maybe everyone feels a little bit better, and a little bit worse.

What if it was different. What if you were invited to the comedian's home in Brunswick St, to listen to their personal fears rollicking along to the clickety-clack of the 112 tram, what if there were only three other people in the audience, what if there was real poetry in his words and actions, what if your participation were not just limited to one controlled, manufactured section of the show but became the entire show. What if you changed for once, and didn't just keep on with the pointless charade? Winning.

You want to laugh? Dave will make you laugh. In fact, through a number of tested techniques and scientific methodology, he will force you to.

You can come to this show, but you don't have to. There's no "must". We care about you - but not in the way that the marketing wants you for your dollar or politicians want you for your vote. We want to help you by making you laugh. But this time, it's not at the expense of someone else. Just pure laughter.

Dave will make you laugh is a collaboration between Dave Loney (Actor) and Richard Pettifer (Director, No-Show, Melbourne Model: The Musical) running alongside the 2012 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

But not a part of it, because it costs $500 bucks.
